Best of the Best in Ohio Qualifier: Morgan Henning

Last year, Morgan Henning had some horse health troubles before The Best of the Best in Ohio Slot Race, and didn’t finish how she’d hoped. This year, however, she’s back and better than ever aboard her new horse, Heros Dashin Lady.

Tell us about the horse you’re riding.

Lady’s sire is Heza Hero and her dam is Smarvelously. She is 5 year old and her registered name is Heros Dashin Lady. I just started running Lady in July so I haven’t really done much on her yet besides qualifying for the Best of The Best.

My ultimate goal in barrel racing is I want to win a 1D saddle.

I ride in a Bob Marshall Saddle.

What bit is in your horse’s mouth?

My bit that I use on Lady is a full cheek snaffle and a tie down.

What supplements do you feed?

We don’t feed Lady supplements. All she gets is alfalfa hay and 14% Patriot.

What won’t you leave home for a barrel race without?

The thing I won’t leave home for a barrel race without my iPad or iPod. I like to listen to music all the way to the show so I don’t over think my runs. It helps me get prepared haha.

To whom do you owe most of your success?

I owe most of my success to Brad Shirey, Cody Bauserman, Penny & Kenny Baker, my Uncle Kevin, and my dad.

Tell us one fun fact about you or your horse.

A fun fact about Lady and I is our first run together, we almost fell completely down!

What charity is closest to your heart?

The charity that is closest to my heart is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because my grandpa had Leukemia.
